Hooks that stop the scroll

Fifteen opening lines for one idea, ranked for your audience.

Updated Jul 26, 2026

Topic: what the post is about. Audience: who they are. Platform: where it's going. Write fifteen opening lines using different mechanisms: a surprising number, a specific mistake, a contrarian claim, a before-and-after, an open loop, a confession. Keep each under twelve words. Rank the top five for my audience and name the mechanism each uses. Then flag any that would feel like clickbait to a professional reader — that's a real cost on LinkedIn.
