Choose between tools without a three-week evaluation
A scorecard that makes a software decision in an hour.
Updated Jul 26, 2026
I'm choosing between tool A, tool B and tool C for purpose. My situation: team size, budget, existing tools it must work with, technical comfort.
Build a scorecard with the five criteria that actually matter for my situation, weighted, with each tool scored and a one-line justification. Include a row for the cost of leaving later.
Then give a recommendation, name the criterion where my choice is weakest, and list the two questions I should ask each vendor before committing. Say if the honest answer is "any of these would be fine — pick the cheapest".
